The Bitcoin address conversion is a standard mathematical equation and completely verifiable using the example below.
Converting a Bitcoin Address to a unique numerical 6 block combination with five of the first blocks displaying a value between 1 and 69 and the sixth displaying a value between 1 and 26.
The 34 alphanumeric characters of a Bitcoin address are split up into six blocks in units of 6-6-6-6-5-5, each letter is assigned a value from 1 to 26 with A = 1 and Z = 26. The value of each block is added together. For example, In Block 1, the alphanumeric value is 17YY5n, this is broken down numerically by character into 1 7 25 25 5 14 these numbers are then added together and we get a total of 77. Since 77 is greater than 69, 77 is now subtracted from 69 which equals an output of 8. (77 – 69 = 8). However, in this example, Block 1’s output conflicts with Block 2 since they both have a value of 8, and therefore a compromise much be reached. This is done by taking the Block Number (“BN”) and Multiplying by Two (BN x 2). In the example above, we would have a final output of 16 (77 – 69 = 8 x 2 = 16).
Should a number be reduced to a fraction the number is rounded to the nearest whole number. .5 always rounds up.
Block 6 underlying calculations are the same as above with the exception that the range of numbers is between 1 and 26.
